CODEX OCEANUS

Moving water is like a flickering fire, as neither allows us to possess them. Both elements are seductresses who beckon us to embrace them only to dissolve in a tumble of liquid, or vanish in a wisp of smoke.

These elusive moments are loci where the physical meets the spiritual and in so doing, invites us to surrender to them.

All images have been created on the surface of the water, in camera, with no manipulation via Photoshop.

Prints are via the Light Jet process on Fuji Crystal Archive paper and are sized 60 x 60 cm for the 1:1, 30 x 60 for the 1:2 and the loose sizes have a 60 cm length on the short side.

Limited editions of ten images will be offered.

WAITING ROOMS

This suite was birthed by a personal, psychological displacement experienced in the intense urban environment of Buenos Aires. Having spent most of my professional life freezing light and time with my camera, I was now seeing beyond the façade of what we perceive as a visually-based reality.

My disrupted interior landscape was being mirrored by the dreamlike landscape of people moving within the spatial waiting rooms of our temporal time here on earth. The narratives unfolding were factfictions of reality being smeared / softened / fractured and offered to me.

I utilize a similar dynamic camera technique as seen in my Codex Oceanus suite. No post-production manipulation is applied.

Images will be offered in limited editions of ten in 70 X 110 cm and limited editions of 15 in 60 X 60cm. Printed via Light Jet on Fuji Crystal Archive paper. Please contact me for pricing: Tom@thomasives.com
